4 ways to enjoy the summer!

4 ways to enjoy the summer!
Posted by on May 27, 2013
Winter has been particularly long in Canada this year and spring here has started off on a pretty rough note. With summer peeking around the corner, I thought to myself, “What will I do this summer?” And then I thought, “I should blog about it” - share my ideas in the hope that it’ll inspire you!
So here are my plans and suggestions, in no particular order of preference:
1. Get a summer job
Whether it’s full-time or part-time, you might want to consider getting a summer job! Summer is certainly a time to enjoy being free from school, catch up on your social life and have a good time, but it’s also a great time to earn some money and experience new things. I recommend applying to FSWEP, the Federal Student Work Experience Program. I shared my own experience on one of my blogs.
2. Enjoy the weather
This is kind of generic, but what I’m suggesting is to get out of the house! The frigid winter has kept us boxed in for so long. Spend some time outside, whether it’s reading in a park, taking a stroll with friends (or pets!) or just enjoying a warm breeze.
3. Play tourist
Sometimes where we live can feel a little “same thing, different day”. This summer, I plan to play tourist and explore the city I live in: I’ll visit museums, parks and historic sites, and maybe even try to find new boutiques or stores for some retail therapy. You never know what gems are hidden in your own backyard. Give it a try! I will.
4. Travel
Depending on your interests and budget, traveling can mean an exotic tour around the world, or it can mean just checking out a different city in your home province that is just a short train or bus ride away. I often make a point of visiting friends and family who are located nearby, in various parts of Eastern Ontario and Quebec. The commute isn’t too expensive, and I can stay at their place instead of a hotel!
How will you be spending your summer?
